Anne A. Buchanan, APR
Anne founded Buchanan Public Relations in 1998, applying a diverse background in strategic communications that included leadership positions in agency, corporate, government and media environments. Her particular strengths are strategy, crisis communications and social media.
Before launching the firm, Anne spent nine years running the Public Relations Department of a large Philadelphia advertising and PR agency. Prior to that, she held communications positions in the Pennsylvania Department of Banking and at Mellon Bank. She also reported for a chain of papers in the Pittsburgh area.
She is active in a number of professional and non-profit organizations. She sits on the Board of the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia, has served as a Trustee of Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church and was Vice President of the Philadelphia chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). In 2012, Anne received PRSA’s Maxine Elkin Award for Distinguished Service, which honors public relations professionals who demonstrate a commitment to the advancement of the profession.
She served as President of the Public Relations Global Network (www.prgn.com), a network of 50 independent PR firms around the world, from 2006 – 2007 and remains on the Executive Board. She is also active in the Philadelphia Public Relations Association.
Anne is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (B.A., Journalism).
Executive Vice President
Before joining Buchanan PR, Nancy was Director of Public Affairs at Comcast Corporation. She brings a diverse background in marketing, communications and government affairs to her position at Buchanan Public Relations, where she oversees the business operations of the agency and is responsible for the delivery of quality services to our clients.
She began her career on Capitol Hill, where she spent eight years in a variety of legislative positions. She served for 12 years at PECO Energy in marketing and government affairs leadership positions. She has also served as Director of Marketing for Morgan, Lewis and Bockius LLP and as Vice President of Marketing at Schultz & Williams, Inc., a firm that consults with nonprofits.
Nancy holds a B.A. (Political Science & Economics) from Bucknell University and a M.A. from The George Washington University.
She is an Elder at Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church, where she also served as Secretary of the Board of Trustees and has been active on several Councils and Committees.
Vice President of Client Services and Manager of Digital Strategy
With more than a decade of experience in PR, Nicole’s background runs the gamut from travel, leisure, restaurants and fashion to aviation, franchising, technology and non-profit.
Over the years, she has represented national and international companies and associations including the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, Cal Spas, the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association and Saladworks. Nicole has served as a corporate spokesperson for clients, with interviews in national and local print and television, including an appearance on a Food Network special.
After spending 11 years at an Old City, Philadelphia-based boutique agency, Nicole became an independent consultant for Buchanan PR, officially joining the company a few months later.
She is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Arts in English Writing with a concentration in Journalism and a minor in Communication. Nicole is actively involved with the Red Paw Emergency Relief Team, where she transports and fosters pets that have been displaced by disasters in their homes.
Blair Kahora Cardinal
Assistant Vice President and Director of Media Relations
Blair has a wide-ranging background in public relations, having most recently managed national clients as a Senior Account Executive for a large public relations agency, and operations, communications and development as Associate Director of CeaseFirePA, a gun violence prevention and advocacy nonprofit. Previously, she was Communications Coordinator for the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce and worked as an Independent Communications Consultant to such national and Philadelphia organizations as Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, Art-Reach and A Chance to Heal.
Blair was the 2012 President of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Philadelphia chapter. She previously served as President-Elect, Treasurer and Chair of the PR Institute training program for several years. She also was the recipient of the 2008 Anthony Fulginiti Award for excellence in education and winner of the 2007 PR Institute.
A graduate of the University of Delaware, Blair majored in Communications and minored in English and Italian. She received her MBA at the Villanova University School of Business in 2012.
Meg has a wide range of experience, from music and entertainment to financial and professional services. At Buchanan PR, she oversees traditional media relations and social media initiatives for a number of the agency’s accounts. She is also a member of the agency’s digital strategy group, with a special focus on optimizing clients’ individual LinkedIn profiles.
Prior to joining Buchanan PR, she worked with music artists and entertainment clients throughout the New York City and Philadelphia areas, generating publicity for regional and national tours.
A graduate of Albright College, Meg holds dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Music Business and Communications with a Public Relations focus. She is a 2015 graduate of PRSA Philly’s Nancy Bacher Long PR Institute. In addition to her role at Buchanan, Meg was lucky to serve as a Phillies Ballgirl for the 2014 and 2015 seasons. Now in her spare time, she can be found working out at her local CrossFit gym and coaching girls’ fastpitch softball.
Amanda leads the video production department at Buchanan PR. As an account executive, she is also involved in daily client interaction for several accounts and steps in on multiple projects when needed. Her background also includes experience in horticulture, freelance and marketing video production, radio production, print media and restaurant and entertainment PR.
Before arriving at Buchanan PR, Amanda lived in Lancaster and worked as an Executive Producer at FOX43 in Central Pennsylvania. She was responsible for overseeing five hours of news programming daily. During her time in television, she reported and produced for multiple stations and programs throughout Pennsylvania.
Amanda graduated from Penn State and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications/Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Sociology. If she’s not in the office, you can find her in her kayak, exploring Philadelphia, taking a hike, or enjoying yoga. No matter where she is, her German Shepard/Buhund rescue dog Porter is never far behind her.
John plays a key role in supporting the implementation of media relations and social media programs for the firm’s clients.
Before joining Buchanan PR, he completed an internship at the San Diego branch of one of the top mid-sized public relations agencies in the U.S., where he assisted with various aspects of media relations, conducted research and brainstormed ideas for new public relations campaigns.
John is a graduate of Villanova University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in communication with a specialization in public relations and a minor in sociology, and was also the women’s basketball team manager. Outside of the office, John is a Level One CrossFit Trainer and can be found working out at his local box, CrossFit Village Berwyn.
Assistant Account Executive
Jen plays an enthusiastic role in supporting and implementing traditional and digital media relations programs for Buchanan’s clients. She joined the agency after completing a successful internship at a Philadelphia public relations agency, where she helped manage the agency’s social media platforms, assisted with various aspects of media relations, conducted research and brainstormed ideas for ad campaigns and events. She also gained event marketing experience at Philadelphia magazine, where she was involved with the publication’s event planning and helped edit special sections of the magazine.
Jen is a graduate of Saint Joseph’s University, where she earned an English degree and was the features editor of The Hawk, the University’s student-run newspaper.
Joe plays an essential role in meeting the needs of our clients, with a special interest in contributing to the firm’s digital strategy and use of social media.
Before joining Buchanan Public Relations, Joe spent a year living in Madrid, Spain, where he worked as an English teacher in a primary school. When not in the classroom, he traveled widely around Europe and enjoyed documenting his adventures in a blog.
Joe is a graduate of Saint Joseph’s University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in international relations and Spanish, alongside minors in history and Latin American studies. He also served in several editorial positions on the university’s student newspaper, The Hawk, for which he was awarded a 2013 Keystone Student Press Award. Outside of the office, Joe enjoys reading nonfiction books, running and writing.
