Anne A. Buchanan, APR

President

Anne founded the firm in 1998, applying a diverse background in strategic communications that included leadership positions in agency, corporate, government and media environments.
Her particular skills are strategy, branding, and crisis communications.

Before launching the firm, Anne spent nine years running the Public Relations Department of a large Philadelphia advertising and PR agency. Prior to that, she held communications positions in the Pennsylvania Department of Banking and at Mellon Bank. She also reported for a chain of weekly papers in the Pittsburgh area.

She is active in several non-profit organizations, serving as Chair of the Board of Advisors of The Middleton Center, a counseling center in Bryn Mawr; as a founding Board member of The Foundation to Abolish Child Sex Abuse (FACSA); as a Trustee of Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church; and as a Board member of the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia.

She served as President of the Public Relations Global Network (www.prgn.com), a network of 40 independent PR firms around the world, from 2006 – 2007 and remains on the Executive Board. She is active in PRSA and PPRA.

Anne is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (A.B., Journalism).

Nancy Page

Director of Client Service

Before joining Buchanan PR, Nancy was Director of Public Affairs at Comcast Corporation. She brings a diverse background in marketing, communications and government affairs to her position at Buchanan Public Relations, where she oversees the business operations of the agency and is responsible for the delivery of quality services to our clients.

She began her career on Capitol Hill, where she spent eight years in a variety of legislative positions. She served for 12 years at PECO Energy in marketing and government affairs leadership positions. She has also served as Director of Marketing for Morgan, Lewis and Bockius LLP and as Vice President of Marketing at Schultz & Williams, Inc., a firm that consults with non-profits.

Nancy holds a B.A. (Political Science & Economics) from Bucknell University and a M.A. from The George Washington University.
She is a member of Session at Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church where she also serves on several Councils and Committees.

Sal Vittolino

Director of Media Services

Sal Vittolino brings more than 25 years experience as a newspaper and magazine writer and editor, public relations director for nine corporations and subsidiaries, and senior PR account executive for one of Philadelphia’s largest PR firms.

His previous experience as a writer and editor gives him a keen insight into what journalists are looking for, and has resulted in high-profile, high-volume coverage in the national, trade, and local media.

Before joining Buchanan Public Relations, Sal held senior PR positions with MPS Group (NYSE:MPS), Manchester Inc., and Modis, Inc., among others. He was a business editor and business writer for The South Florida Sun-Sentinel, a freelance business writer for The Philadelphia Daily News, and a news reporter and feature writer for The Reading (PA) Eagle-Times. He also wrote for Human Resource Executive magazine.

Sal holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration with a Certificate in Marketing from Nova Southeastern University and a B.S. in Journalism from Temple University.

Shannon Bernauer

Account Supervisor

Shannon has more than 10 years of experience building strategic public relations and communications programs, both in-house and within agencies.

Before joining Buchanan Public Relations, Shannon worked as a corporate communications program manager for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, where she managed internal communications programs for more than 4,300 employees. She has also worked for public relations agencies in New York and Raleigh, N.C.

Over the course of her career, Shannon has managed strategic communications programs for a range of business-to-business, financial, technology, non-profit and consumer companies. She has secured coverage on behalf of her clients in top-tier national print, television and web outlets.

Shannon is a graduate of Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, where she received her M.A. in Public Relations. She also holds a B.A. in Communications from Seton Hall University.

Shane M. Swisher

Account Supervisor

Shane brings 10 years of experience in public relations and corporate communications from both the agency and client sides to Buchanan PR.

During his career, Shane has managed public relations programs for a variety of business-to-business, high technology, consumer products, advocacy, entertainment and professional services clients, securing print and broadcast coverage in both local and national media outlets.

Prior to joining Buchanan Public Relations, Shane worked for agencies in the Philadelphia and New York areas, including Boyd Tamney Cross and Giles Communication LLC. His clients have included Yamaha Corporation of America, Yamaha Consumer Products, Octave Systems, Sibelius Software, NewTek, Voyetra/Turtle Beach, Westfalia Technologies and Communications Test Design Inc. Shane has also worked with a number of professional jazz musicians, and has helped guide the careers of Chris Bergson, Dena DeRose and Sheryl Bailey.

He serves as public relations counsel to the marketing committee of Good Works, Inc., a nonprofit home rehab organization based in Chester County.

Shane holds a B.A. in Writing from the University of Pittsburgh.

Jack Loughran

Account Executive

Jack brings a background in electronic media to his work at the firm. Before joining Buchanan Public Relations, he was a Production Assistant at Comcast SportsNet.

Born and raised in the Philadelphia region, Jack is a graduate of the Park School of Communications at Ithaca College where he earned a B.S. in Television-Radio with a concentration in Advertising / Public Relations.

Heather Walker

Administrative Assistant

Before joining Buchanan Public Relations, Heather assisted in the management of in-house cognitive therapy training programs at the Beck Institute for Cognitive Therapy and Research. Her diverse employment background includes working for a local business journal and serving as an assistant to a veterinarian, a skill that serves her well in Buchanan PR’s dog-friendly office.

A native of Reno, Nevada, Heather is a graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she was a member of the Golden Key Society, and earned a B.A. in Cultural Anthropology as well as English Literature.
