Anne A. Buchanan, APR

President

Anne founded Buchanan Public Relations in 1998, applying a diverse background in strategic communications that included leadership positions in agency, corporate, government and media environments. Her particular strengths are strategy, crisis communications and social media.

Before launching the firm, Anne spent nine years running the Public Relations Department of a large Philadelphia advertising and PR agency. Prior to that, she held communications positions in the Pennsylvania Department of Banking and at Mellon Bank. She also reported for a chain of papers in the Pittsburgh area.

She is active in a number of professional and non-profit organizations. She sits on the Board of the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia, has served as a Trustee of Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church and was Vice President of the Philadelphia chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). In 2012, Anne received PRSA’s Maxine Elkin Award for Distinguised Service, which honors public relations professionals who demonstrate a commitment to the advancement of the profession.

She served as President of the Public Relations Global Network (www.prgn.com), a network of 40 independent PR firms around the world, from 2006 – 2007 and remains on the Executive Board. She is also active in the Philadelphia Public Relations Association.

Anne is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (B.A., Journalism).

Nancy Page

Vice President

Before joining Buchanan PR, Nancy was Director of Public Affairs at Comcast Corporation. She brings a diverse background in marketing, communications and government affairs to her position at Buchanan Public Relations, where she oversees the business operations of the agency and is responsible for the delivery of quality services to our clients.

She began her career on Capitol Hill, where she spent eight years in a variety of legislative positions. She served for 12 years at PECO Energy in marketing and government affairs leadership positions. She has also served as Director of Marketing for Morgan, Lewis and Bockius LLP and as Vice President of Marketing at Schultz & Williams, Inc., a firm that consults with nonprofits.

Nancy holds a B.A. (Political Science & Economics) from Bucknell University and a M.A. from The George Washington University.

She is an Elder at Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church, where she also serves on several Councils and Committees.

Emily E. DiTomo

Account Manager

A seasoned public relations practitioner, Emily has developed and executed communications strategies on behalf of wide-ranging clients in the technology, financial services, healthcare, utility, retail and arts industries.

During the course of her career, she has worked with many of the country’s leading corporations, including Sprint, Tyco Fire & Building Products, AccuWeather, Inc., Lutron Electronics and Wawa – the Mid-Atlantic’s favorite chain of convenience food markets.

Emily also served as Director of Communications and Environmental Affairs at Entercom Communications Corp. – a top five U.S. radio broadcasting company – where she oversaw all internal and external communications programs.

A cum laude graduate of Villanova University, Emily earned a master’s degree in Communications Management from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. She is an active member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and Philadelphia Public Relations Association (PPRA).

Emily sits on the Board of Directors of Youth Service, Inc., a Philadelphia, PA-based agency dedicated to strengthening the family unit, helping at-risk teens and promoting child safety.

Blair Kahora Cardinal

Account Supervisor

Blair has a wide-ranging background in public relations, having most recently managed national clients as a Senior Account Executive for a large public relations agency, and operations, communications and development as Associate Director of CeaseFirePA, a gun violence prevention and advocacy nonprofit. Previously, she was Communications Coordinator for the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce and worked as an Independent Communications Consultant to such national and Philadelphia organizations as Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, Art-Reach and A Chance to Heal.

Blair was the 2012 President of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Philadelphia chapter. She previously served as President-Elect, Treasurer and Chair of the PR Institute training program for several years. She also was the recipient of the 2008 Anthony Fulginiti Award for execellence in education and winner of the 2007 PR Institute.

A graduate of the University of Delaware, Blair majored in Communications and minored in English and Italian. She received her MBA at the Villanova University School of Business in 2012.

Emily Geesaman

Senior Account Executive

Emily comes to Buchanan from Strategic Communication & Planning (SCP), a full-service communications and strategic planning firm serving nonprofit organizations, foundations and government initiatives.  Before joining SCP, she was an assistant account executive at Tierney Communications, where she managed public relations programs and events for clients in the nonprofit, consumer and tourism industries.

Emily graduated cum laude from Temple University, earning a bachelor’s degree in Communication with a concentration in public relations.  She is currently pursuing her MBA at Villanova University’s School of Business.  She began her career as an associate publicist at Rubenstein Public Relations, Inc. in New York, where she represented clients in the lifestyle, entertainment, technology, real estate and tourism industries.

Kathleen McFadden

Account Executive

As account executive at Buchanan PR, Kathleen plays an integral role in the public relations, social media and search engine optimization (SEO) activities within the agency and for its clients.

Throughout her career, Kathleen has worked with organizations in the professional services, technology, healthcare, manufacturing and nonprofit industries.  Her business and consumer clients have been featured in major high-level national and regional outlets.

Kathleen has served on the social media team for the Philadelphia chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and on the college relations committee for the Philadelphia Public Relations Association (PPRA).  She is a 2011 winner of PRSA Philadelphia’s PR Institute program.

A cum laude graduate of Villanova University, Kathleen earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication with specializations in Public Relations and Journalism and a concentration in Writing & Rhetoric.

Jessica Emery

Account Coordinator

Jess serves an Account Coordinator, where her duties include assisting with all aspects of client relations, including media research, writing and social media.  She joined the agency shortly after graduating from East Carolina University in May 2012, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in communications with a concentration in public relations. 

While at ECU, Jess worked at the University’s Career Center and was an active member of the Student Activities Board promotions committee.  Before joining Buchanan PR as an intern, she completed an internship at a mid-size public relations agency, where she worked with clients in the financial services industry

Karen Ivory

Writer & Office Administrator

Karen began her career in broadcast journalism, serving as a writer and producer for the ABC station in St. Louis and for the CBS stations in Philadelphia and New York. After several years working in public relations at Haverford College, in Haverford, Pa., she launched a freelance public relations and nonfiction writing career that included writing for large technology corporations, nonprofits, hospitals, and psychological services organizations.

Karen has authored several books, most recently Philadelphia Icons: 50 Classic Views of the City of Brotherly Love. A graduate of Denison University in Granville, Ohio, she earned degrees in Communications and English Literature.
